Terms of use and sale
Last updated: 23 October 2026
These terms apply when you use our website or the Dosa Chaska app and when you buy from us online. Please read them before you order. If anything is unclear, just ask us.
1. About us
Our website and app are run by Dosa Chaska Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16281713. Registered office: 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. Our café: 46B Main Street, Cockermouth CA13 9LU. Contact: hello@dosachaska.com, or call or WhatsApp us on the number on our Contact page.
2. Using our website and app
2.1 You may use our website and app to find out about us, order and book. Please don’t misuse them, for example by trying to break in, or copying our content, photos or recipes for commercial use.
2.2 We work hard to keep information accurate, but menus, prices and opening times can change. In the café, the menu and till price on the day apply.
2.3 Photos show how our food is served; your dish may look a little different.
3. Buying online
3.1 Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT.
3.2 When you order, we email you a confirmation. The contract is made when we confirm your order. If we can’t fulfil it (for example an item is no longer available), we’ll tell you and refund you in full.
3.3 Card payments are taken securely by Stripe. We never see your full card number.
4. Takeaway ordered in the app
4.1 You can order takeaway in the Dosa Chaska app for collection from our Cockermouth café, as soon as possible or at a time you choose. You pay when you order.
4.2 The app shows your order’s progress. If our kitchen can’t start your order in time, we cancel it and refund you in full automatically.
4.3 If you need to cancel, message us in the app or call us before we start preparing your order and we’ll refund you in full. Once we’ve started cooking we can’t cancel it, but please talk to us if something has gone wrong.
5. Click and collect (website shop, frozen curries and batter)
5.1 Orders are collected from our Cockermouth café, 46B Main Street, CA13 9LU. We don’t deliver at the moment.
5.2 You choose a 15-minute collection time between 11:00 and 15:30, Wednesday to Sunday, at least 24 hours ahead. You’ll get a confirmation and a reminder on the day.
5.3 Please bring your order number or show your Dosa Chaska app. Someone else may collect for you if they give your name and order number.
5.4 Need to change the time? Message us, or change it in the app, at least 2 hours before. If you can’t make it, we’ll keep your order for 7 days. After that we’ll contact you, and if we don’t hear back within a further 7 days we may cancel it and refund you, less the cost of anything we can no longer sell.
5.5 Frozen curries: take them home and put them in a freezer (-18°C or colder) within 2 hours. Our batter must go in the fridge and keeps for 2 weeks.
5.6 Our curries come in 650 g boxes. If you can, please bring the empty boxes back when you next collect: we wash and reuse them. Bring an empty batter bottle back to the café and we’ll give you a free hot drink through the rewards app.
6. Changing your mind
6.1 You can cancel a click and collect order for a full refund at any time before you collect it: email hello@dosachaska.com or message us.
6.2 Because they’re food, we can’t take back frozen curries or batter once collected, unless they’re faulty (section 9).
6.3 Curry Club has its own Curry Club terms, including the right to cancel.
7. Gift and workshop vouchers
7.1 Gift vouchers (£10, £25 or £50) can be spent at our Cockermouth café and in our online shop, on anything except other vouchers. If you spend less than the full value, the rest stays on the voucher.
7.2 A workshop voucher is for one place at a cooking workshop or Sunday Social. The holder books once dates go on sale.
7.3 Vouchers are digital. We email them to the person you choose, on the date you choose, with a printable copy. Each voucher has its own code and is linked to that person’s email address: it appears in their free Dosa Chaska app and only works online with that email. If you send a voucher to yourself, you can pass it on once, to a named person, before any of it is used.
7.4 Vouchers last 12 months from the day you buy them. The use-by date is on the voucher and in the app, and we’ll send a reminder before it runs out.
7.5 Vouchers can’t be exchanged for cash. You can cancel a voucher you bought within 14 days for a full refund if none of it has been used.
7.6 Because vouchers are kept in the app, a lost email or printout isn’t a problem: just ask us.
8. Sunday Socials, workshops and other events
8.1 Your ticket is for the event, date and number of places shown on your confirmation.
8.2 You can cancel up to 7 days before the event for a full refund, or move to another date for free. Within 7 days of the event we can’t refund, but we’ll move you to another date if there’s space, or you can send someone in your place.
8.3 If we cancel or change an event, you can choose a full refund or another date.
8.4 Please tell us about allergies or dietary needs when you book. We’ll always do our best, but our kitchen handles many allergens (section 10).
8.5 We may take photos at events to share our community’s story. Tell the host if you’d rather not be in them.
9. If something is wrong
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected. If anything you buy from us is faulty or not as described, tell us as soon as you can and we’ll replace it or refund you.
10. Allergens and food safety
Every frozen curry and batter bottle is labelled with its ingredients, with allergens in bold, and allergen information is on our website and in the café. Our kitchen handles nuts, sesame, mustard, milk, cereals containing gluten and other allergens, so we can’t guarantee that any item is free from traces. Please check the label each time, tell the team about any allergy before you order, and ask us if you’re unsure.
11. Our responsibility to you
We’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that’s a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We don’t exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to exclude or limit. We’re not responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for business losses.
12. Other terms
Our rewards programme has its own rewards terms, Curry Club has its own Curry Club terms, and how we use your information is explained in our privacy notice. We may update these terms from time to time; the version on our website when you order applies to that order.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
